Sewing, Quilting and Embroidery Classes for Everyone

Our staff teaches sewing, quilting and embroidery classes featuring a wide variety of projects for different skill levels. We've even got sewing classes for kids! These classes are open to owners of any brand of sewing or embroidery machine—all you have to know are the basic functions of your machine and how it works. BERNINA Creative Studio is a monthly
class that features a different hands-on
project each month.

In May you'll learn applique as well as
embellishment with decorative
stitching and stitch designer.
Make this beginner friendly scrappy
heart wall hanging with a modern
twist—the perfect project to welcome
summer!
 
This beautiful little sewing kit will
quickly become your favorite for
traveling with your sewing supplies.

Use those wonderful mini charm
packs that you've been collecting!
Make this quick, easy sewing kit that
includes a pin cushion, needle minder,
scissor keeper and project case.
Make it scrappy if you want to use
your project leftovers, or use part of a
charm pack of larger pre-cut squares.

This easy-connect quilting technique
allows you to use your home
embroidery machine to get
edge-to-edge quilting results similar to
what you would get from computerized
longarm quilting. Finish your quilts
yourself more quickly with your
embroidery machine! Designs require
mega, maxi or jumbo hoop sizes.

Edge-to-Edge Quilting with
Your Embroidery Machine

 Learn Claudia Dinnell's technique
for creating embroidery designs
that are larger than your hoop. In this
two-day class (with optional third day)
you will learn to mark your fabric panels,
stitch each section of the design and
make them all line up perfectly with
each other. The designs for A Child is
Born are currently available ONLY if
you take this class, so don't miss your
opportunity to create your own
embroidered quilt that will surely become
a family heirloom to treasure during
the holidays!

*Thursday is an optional day. Students who
attend Thursday will
begin their project
on Thursday.
Students who attend Friday and
Saturday will begin their project on Friday.
No instruction will be missed if
you do
not attend Thursday, it is being
offered as
an additional work day.

For adults with little or no sewing
experience. Start your sewing journey
with a project appropriate for your
skill level, then work at your own pace
on different projects. Use our classroom
machines and learn new skills
with each project.
Kits are available for purchase for
some projects.

This three day summer sewing camp
is perfect for kids age 8 (or going into
3rd grade) and up who have never
sewn or who have limited experience
with a sewing machine.

Level One camp includes three projects
and the materials to complete them:
pillowcase with prairie points, pop bag
and reversible hobo bag.

Project materials, snacks, water and
lunch on the third day of camp are
included in fee. Please bring your own
lunch on days one and two of camp.
Kids use our classroom sewing
machines. Some additional supplies
necessary—please see supply list.
 
For adults with little or no sewing
experience. Start your sewing journey
with a project appropriate for your
skill level, then work at your own pace
on different projects. Use our classroom
machines and learn new skills
with each project.

BERNINA Educator Betty
Stoltenberg will show you
everything you need to get started
using your BERNINA longarm with
QMatic! She'll also teach you
the basics of Art & Stitch so that you
can get started digitizing your own
quilting designs. This beginner
level class is an introduction to the
tools used in QMatic: you will learn how
to import and place designs, resize,
rotate, etc. as well as set up and move
your safe area, create edge-to-edge
quilting and advance your quilt to line
up the next row. The Art & Stitch part
of the class will teach you how to use
the basic drawing tools, where to find
the designs that come with Art & Stitch,
edit existing designs, apply stitches to
a design and how to save your files to
get them into QMatic.

some hands-on time with a sit-down
longarm and try these techniques and
tools. Space is limited to 10 people
so register early to reserve your spot!

including nested circles, nested
ovals, squiggle, 4 in 1 and straight
line. Once you complete your panel,
you'll have the confidence you need
to use rulers to finish all your quilting
projects!
