Service and Repair by Appointment Only
Due to the overwhelming demand for machine service and repair, we are now requiring an appointment in order for you to bring your machine in for service. If your machine requires repair(s) and is not currently usable, we do repairs on a first come, first served basis and fit them into our schedule as soon as we can without requiring an appointment, because we want you to be able to use your machine as soon as possible. We are committed to returning your machine to you within 7 to 10 days of receiving your machine for service by appointment, but please keep in mind that repairs may take longer because we fit them into our schedule when we can. If your machine requires repairs that we must order parts for, you will be given an estimate of date of completion once you approve the repairs / cost of parts required. While it is possible that your machine may be serviced / completed the same day it is brought in, we do not promise same day service ever—no exceptions. Please call us at 303-485-6681 and ask to speak with a technician if you need further clarification or more information.
When you call for your appointment, we will ask you for the following information so please have it ready before you call:
• Make and model of your sewing machine (for example, Bernina 1030 or Singer 221).
• What does your machine need? Service / cleaning, repair or both? We may ask you for specifics if it needs repairs.
• Your phone number (where you CAN be reached or we CAN leave a voicemail—please be sure your voicemail is set up / functioning and that it is not full) AND your email address. We will email you a reminder before your appointment which will contain information about all the items we need you to bring with your machine when you check it in. Please make sure you are checking your junk / spam email folders so that you do not miss your reminder and the list of items we need you to bring! We do not sell phone number or email records EVER—this is solely so that we can reach you when we need to.
You may check in your machine for your appointment up to four days prior to your appointment but it MUST be received no later than 5pm on the day of your appointment or we will have to reschedule your appointment. Once your machine is ready to be picked up, we will call you and we are asking that you pick up your machine as soon as possible once it is ready. We simply do not have space for long term storage—machines that are left for more than five days after being completed may be subject to a storage surcharge. Thank you for considering these things when you make your appointment.
When you bring your machine for your appointment, you MUST bring ALL of the required items (listed below and will also be listed in the email you receive for your appointment reminder). If you do not bring all of the required items we cannot check your machine in for service, and your appointment will have to be rescheduled. No exceptions.

Machine Repair and Service
The Presser Foot currently has two BERNINA certified and trained service
and repair technicians on staff. We are pleased to offer skilled and honest
service and repair on most brands of domestic sewing and embroidery
machines, on site in our store. We guarantee our service and repairs—
if there is a problem with our service or repairs, we promise we will make
it right!
We recommend a full service on your machine every 12 to 18 months, as
grease and oil do evaporate more quickly in our climate and at our altitude—
even if you do not use your machine every day.
If you plan to bring your machine in for service, please continue to read
below so that you will know what we need you to bring and what you
can expect from our technicians.
Please call us if you have specific questions regarding service or repair of
your sewing or embroidery machine. There are lots of cases where we can
help you resolve problems over the phone—if we can save you a trip,
we are more than happy to try!
Bernina Service and Repair
The Presser Foot is an authorized BERNINA dealer. Our technicians have several years of experience and are very skilled. They attend training regularly for BERNINA machines, and our service department has access to parts for most BERNINA machines (some parts may no longer be available for older models).
An appointment is required for complete service on your machine—please call 303-485-6681 to schedule an appointment.
We do warranty work on all BERNINA and bernette machines, which means that if your warranty is still valid (you are the original owner of the machine, you have the original receipt of purchase for your machine, and the warranty has not expired), you will not be charged for parts that are covered under your warranty. However, if you did not purchase your BERNINA from The Presser Foot, you may be charged for the labor. If your machine needs parts that are not covered under the warranty, we will always get your approval before we proceed if the cost exceeds $15.
If you are planning to leave your BERNINA machine for service or repair, we need the following items with your machine:
• For BERNINA machines older than 1998, please bring your foot control and power cord.
• For 8 series BERNINA machines (built 2009 to current), please leave the thread stand attached.
• For all models of BERNINA machines, please bring your 9mm stitch plate or 5.5mm stitch plate (no straight stitch plates, please!
Stitch plates vary by model and because there are so many, we cannot guarantee we will have a 9mm or 5mm stitch plate
to sew with your machine if you do not bring yours with you! If we cannot sew with your machine, we cannot service it.)
• For all BERNINA machines, please bring your bobbin case (where applicable) so that we can check your bobbin case tension.
• For all BERNINA embroidery machines, if you are having issues that may be related to your embroidery module, please bring the
embroidery module and hoop(s) with you.
• If you are having specific issues with your machine, please bring a sewn or embroidered sample with you if possible—sometimes this
is very helpful for our technicians to see.
You must notify us of specific problems you would like addressed when you leave your machine with us, as well as leave us a phone number where we can reach you if we have questions.
Other Brands of Sewing and Embroidery Machines
While we are comfortable servicing and repairing most sewing and embroidery machines, please keep the following in mind:
• We are no longer servicing Husqvarna / Viking sewing machines or overlockers / sergers. No exceptions. We recommend you
take your Husqvarna / Viking machine to an authorized dealer.
• While we can service most brands of overlockers / sergers, we do not provide service on other brands of chain and cover / combo
machines. These machines often require special tools / gauges that we do not have unless it is a BERNINA. We are happy to make a
recommendation to a dealer of your brand of machine.
• We are exclusively a BERNINA dealer. While we have sources for many parts, there are times where we cannot get parts for other
brands of machines or make some repairs. If this is the case with your machine, we will let you know and are happy to make a
recommendation to a dealer for your brand of machine.
• We are only able to do warranty work for BERNINA machines. If your machine is not a BERNINA and if the original
manufacturer's warranty is still valid, we do recommend that you have any work done at a dealer who is authorized to
service and repair your machine. We are happy to make a recommendation to a dealer for your brand of machine.
If you are planning to leave your machine for service or repair, we need the following items with your machine:
• Foot control and power cord.
• Standard sewing foot (zig zag foot).
• Wide stitch plate (we must be able to stitch a zig zag—no straight stitch plates, please). If your machine cannot do a zig zag
(is a straight stitch only machine) this does not apply.
• Bobbin case and bobbin for your machine (bobbins are often specific to the bobbin case).
• Embroidery module, hoop and designs (if not stored on the machine) if you are having issues related to the embroidery module.
• If you are having specific issues with your machine, please bring a sewn or embroidered sample with you if possible—sometimes
this is very helpful for our technicians to see.
You must notify us of specific problems you would like addressed when you leave your machine with us, as well as leave us a phone number where we can reach you if we have questions.
